Oracle Application Server 10g has a form service to run a form on the web,
Start -> Programs ->Oracle Application Server 10g -> Forms Services -> Run a form on the web for form=test.fmx
If the applet is not display correctly and receive the error:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.forms.engine.Main
you should check if JInitiator already installed.
If already installed, then check in
Control Panel -> JInitiator administration console , the option “Use browser settings” and “use proxies” has to be unchecked.

Both Use Browser Settings and Use Proxies are unchecked on my system but I still get the same error. Any other suggestions?
Ok Lewis, i use JInitiator 1.3.1.17
maybe you can try to install j2sdk1.4.2 or any higher version.
Hi,
I’m experiencing the same problem – on Vista. Tried almost everything, Are there are workable solutions to this? I’m realy struggeling with the problem for weeks now!
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Regards
Steven
I use Vista too. I have install Jinitiator and Java SDK too. But when i user browser to start oracle form applet, i see java icon on systray, not jinitiator icon.
I use firefox, when i install jinitiator or java sdk, i close firefox to make sure installation run properly.
Maybe you can use only java sdk or java runtime, uninstall jinitiator.
HI all,
did you clear the JAR cache also ?
Cheers,
Robert.
